Kaiwhakahaere Tari – Fixed Term, 6 month, 16 hours per week

Wellington based

The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners is a medical college which plays a leadership role in the health sector. We train and support general practitioners to improve the health of all New Zealanders.

The ideal team member would be someone who is ready to hit the ground running. You will enjoy building relationships with a ‘can do’ attitude and will provide support, co-ordination and implementation for a work programme that is consistent with Te Ao Māori and our Strategic Plan. A strong customer service focus is critical to success in this role, as is contributing to the development of a culture of whakawhanaungatanga in the workplace.

This role would suit someone who has:

• 2+ years’ experience working in a busy administration role where high levels of customer service delivery are expected
• Proven ability to establish and maintain networks within the Māori community, provide manaakitanga and nurture mana-enhancing relationships
• Proficiency in te reo (intermediate conversational) both verbal and written

The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners represents 90 percent of New Zealand’s general practitioners. Our kaupapa is to set and maintain education and quality standards for general practice to support our members to provide competent, equitable care to their patients.

The College seeks to attract staff with diverse backgrounds, experiences, skills and perspectives, and to welcome, value and respect their contributions to our work and workplace. We acknowledge the impacts of inequitable health care on Māori as tangata whenua, and on other groups, and we are addressing these as part of our strategic direction. As such, skills in te reo and tikanga Māori and experience in working in Māori contexts are most welcome.
