Dr Aniva Lawrence is a Samoan GP based in Northland that is a practice owner and currently Academic Co-ordinator for the University of Auckland Northlands Clinical school. Having been married 25 years to Leroy (Ngati Hine, Ngati Maniapoto) and having three boys aged 21-16yrs means lots of sports support and community involvement along the way.
Aniva has been an ex-officio member of the RNZCGP Board when she was the NAC Chair finishing early in 2022. She has previously worked as a Clinical Director in Primary Care and is currently deputy chair on the Executive of the Pacific Chapter. Aniva is also a member of SYHPANZ and has co-led national Youth Health Framework development more recently looking at co-governance by Youth at a national level.
Passionate about Rural health, Equity and General Practice as being a great specialty to train and work in she hopes to bring a different skill set to the current Board.
To balance a very busy schedule she enjoys days at Northland beaches and music (playing piano and saxophone) as her happy space,
