About this webinar
Join webinar host Professor Les Toop as he explains elements of the Ministry of Health's draft Therapeutics Bill that are relevant to GPs.
Les is a University of Otago professor and served as the head of the Department of General Practice for more than 20 years.
As an inner-city Christchurch GP and academic, Les has been involved with the Pharmacology and Therapeutics Advisory Committee (PTAC), the Medicines Classification Committee (MCC) and the Pegasus Health medical education programme. He advocates for access to evidence-informed, independent health information for all New Zealanders.
Among other things, the Bill would replace the Medicines Act and makes several changes to the regulation of medical devices, pharmacy locations, cell and tissue based products and e-prescribing. It allows for Direct to Consumer Advertising (DTCA) and does not cover natural health products.
The webinar will be held at 4.30pm on Wednesday 20 February 2019.
You can find out more about the Bill, and read a summary of relevant proposed changes, on our Therapeutics Bill submission webpage.
