Happy new year from the College! I hope you have had a relaxing break. Firstly, I’d like to congratulate every practice which has been working towards CORNERSTONE® accreditation, has received accreditation or reaccreditation or has achieved Foundation standard during 2017.

Working towards CORNERSTONE® accreditation, receiving accreditation or reaccreditation, or achieving Foundation standard is a significant achievement which demonstrates your practice’s commitment to safe patient-centred primary health care, and we hope you took the time to recognise and celebrate this.

For those with visits from assessors coming up, we hope your preparation is going well. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team if we can be of assistance.

Over 2018, we’ll be looking at how we can improve the support we provide to practices in their quality improvement work. We’re planning a webinar and email programme which will look at individual Aiming for Excellence indicators, giving you information, support and advice on how to best meet them.

We’ll be in touch ahead of the first webinar which we want to hold in early March. The first indicator we’d like to cover is ‘the practice has evidence of organisational planning’.

We’re also considering how we can improve how we run our quality programmes, so we will be more focused on continuous quality outcomes and better experiences for patients and practices. This will be a big project for us, so we’ll keep you updated and make sure we hear your voice.
