2024 Greg Judkins Prize for Reflective Poetry
Entries are now open for the Greg Judkins Prize for Reflective Poetry. The competition awardees will be read at GP24: the Conference for General Practice.
Theme and categories
The competition is open to all College members.
The theme is, ‘The consultation’ and there are two categories:
- Short poem: Up to six lines
- Long poem: Up to 25 lines

Email your poem to communications@rnzcgp.org.nz before 5pm Sunday 30 June.
All poems will be judged by GP and poet Dr Greg Judkins, Dunedin poet Ruth Arnison and Dr Art Nahill, a recently retired poet-doctor.
The awardees will be announced and read at the conference. Dr Judkins will provide each awardee with a copy of his poem and short stories books.
Rules
- Entry is limited to members of The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners during the competition period.
- Poems submitted must be original, entirely the work of the entrant and not previously published anywhere.
- Only poems submitted in the form described in the competition publicity are eligible for judging.
- Only poems received by the notified closing date and time to the address given in the competition publicity are eligible for judging.
- Prizes will be awarded to the winning poem in each of the two categories.
- By entering the competition, entrants agree to the winning poem being read aloud as part of the Prize ceremony.
- The awardees will be announced at GP24: the Conference for General Practice.
- The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into
