The Northland Faculty Kapa Kaiaka Programme treated the 2023 GPEP year 1 registrars to a great day out for their first seminar, with a trip around the Bay of Islands on yacht Gunga II, to celebrate their decision to complete their training in the Northland region.

Gaining knowledge in dive medicine, and a refresher in why we learnt physics was bestowed upon the group by GPEP year 2 registrar Phil, who was joined by Amanda to share tips and tricks when navigating the year.

The registrars enjoyed the beauty of our region from the best seat in the house, in the safe hands of skipper Mike and deck hand Ryan, and they were treated to a delightful lunch - educator Vanessa impressed herself by keeping it down.

After a walk over one of the islands and sharing whakawhanaungatanga on the beach, the group identified their learning needs at The Duke of Marlborough, Russell.

The faculty would like to thank Drs Bollen for warmly billeting one of our new registrars in their home while she found her feet in a new place. The Northland Kapa Kaiaka programme has been expanded this year to continue to support Northland GP registrars, new fellows and encourage local RMOs into general practice.
