Letters in support of Waitangi Tribunal WAI3307

In February 2024, the Government introduced legislation to disestablish the Māori Health Authority Te Aka Whai Ora. A claim to the Waitangi Tribunal is being led by Lady Tureiti Moxon and the Head of a Māori Primary Health Organisation, Janice Kuka, on the grounds the Crown was in breach of Te Tiriti o Waitangi with the disestablishment of the authority. Below are the letters of support from Te Akoranga a Māui (the College’s Māori representative group) and the College, filed in support of the claim.

Claims that medical abortion can be ‘reversed’ by a dose of progesterone after a woman has taken the first medical abortion medication are not based on reputable scientific evidence. The College upholds views by other medical Colleges’ that the promotion of the term ‘abortion reversal is ‘unproven and unethical’ based on the strength of evidence.
