4. Decide on the measures

After choosing a quality improvement methodology and gathering data, the practice team needs to establish their measures so they can see if a change makes an improvement.

Measurement over time is essential to CQI and measures can be outcome, process, or balancing measures. Baseline or benchmark data are needed to show trends, and the team needs to align their measures with their problem and AIM statements.
